A Combination sharpening stone from renowned Japanese whetstone manufacturer King is a great and affordable choice for novice and intermediate sharpeners. We would recommend King's #1000/#6000 grit combination stone to owners of tools with hardness above 60 HRC. #1000 grit is a most common, general sharpening granulation (to put a new edge on a blunt blade), while #6000 grit is a fine granulation for the finishing edge and the final polish of the blade.

 

King stones are not just pressed into the shape, but also "baked". This reflects in less stone wear during sharpening (meaning they will require less maintenance in reflattening and ultimately last longer time) then a natural water stone. However, this stone will still wear
